Oak with hidden wicket gate

Oak with hidden wicket gate is a sliding gate on a very old private house. It is in a conservation area and the house is Grade 1 listed. We designed, manufactured and fitted the gate, but as a key part of this job we also did the planning application and liaised with the council conservation officer on suitable designs for the gate. The gate is to the yard next to the house and not directly adjacent to the house. A key thing both from our view, the client's and the conservation officer was we did not want any faux looking gate. The large, but purely decorative, forged strap hinges are a traditional type used in that area of Staffordshire at the time the house was built. The oak of the gate has been left to naturally silver with age.

The gate is an electric cantilevered gate with a hidden pedestrian wicket gate built in. Through our SE we supplied the client’s builder with what was required for the concrete foundations
