Dellow Centre gates

There was an open design competition to design two pedestrian gates and a main gate. We took a detail from some stained glass windows of the building which they prize and used it to produce a design where we could incorporate some different materials. The brief was very open but the two things they wanted was to have good visibility through the gates and that they had to be tough as some of the people visiting the centre can be violent.

On the central detail of the main gates you can see different shading on identical stainless panels achieved by simply having the polishing grain running in different directions. A way to create interest but be cost effective. We also incorporated wood and patinated gilding metal.

They adopted our CAD drawing of the central detail as their company logo.

As well as adding the free flowing forged twists to the pedestrian gates to match the main gate we bowed them out to add interest.
